Our History

Eight miles North of Udine, along the road wich connects Colloredo di Monte Albano to Tricesimo, in a valley between nice hills, is located ARA GRANDE.
Here, right aside the church, at the beginning of 20th century Andrea Benedetti opened a pub with a gocery shop.

The place was known as "Dree", after the owner's name.
Andrea worked in Austria since he was 11, until the First World War, and there he saw the operetta "White Horse Lodge". It fascinated him so much, and so he had a dream: if some day the pub becomes something more, he would call it "Al Cavallino Bianco", just like the operetta.

Married with Maria, he got three children: Dora, Alfredo, and Terziano. Alfredo suceeded him in the family's activity, together with his wife Jolina, who gave him two children: Andrea and Olinto.

In 1960 the big decision: the pub was enlarged and upgraded to a lodge, and yes, the name: "Al Cavallino Bianco".

Since 1983 the management is up to the second son, Olinto, and to the daughter-in-law, Serena. With the co-operation of grandparents and daughters, they work together, continuing the family's tradition.
